How much does ski rental Abetone cost

These are the rates you’ll find at the foot of the pistes. Price depends mostly on the gear tier: a basic set and a top-end one can differ by twenty euros a day. Most shops drop their rates from the third day, which is why a week costs less than five single days.

Abetone’s ski area

Abetone is part of the Abetone Multipass ski area: 17 lifts, 50 km of pistes, from 1,240 to 1,892 metres. The season usually runs from early December to late March.

One of the oldest resorts in Italy: 50 km of pistes across four linked valleys, served by 17 lifts.

It’s the largest ski area in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, well suited to beginners and intermediate skiers.

The adult day pass in peak season runs around €53, on top of the rental when you tally up the day. Many ski areas use dynamic pricing: buying online a few days ahead usually costs less than at the ticket office that morning. Current rates here.

When to ski in Abetone

The top lift sits at 1,892 metres: the season here relies on snowmaking and cold nights. The safe window runs from late December to early March, which is also when rental shops are busiest.

The week between Christmas and Epiphany is when rental shops run out of the most requested sizes, especially men’s boots in sizes 42 to 44 and anything for kids. If you’re skiing then, book your gear when you book your accommodation. In January, outside weekends, you’ll find everything with no queue and often at a lower rate.

What gear to get

The ski area covers 50 km: this is a weekend or family-base size, where an easy, manageable ski beats a speed-oriented model. For kids, ask for the full package with helmet included, it costs less than buying the pieces separately.

Boots matter more than skis. The wrong boot ruins your week; a mediocre ski just slows it down. Try them on with the socks you’ll actually wear, walk around the shop for a few minutes and check your heel stays put without your toes hitting the front. If they hurt by midweek, go back to the shop: swapping them is almost always free.

A helmet usually isn’t included and costs €3–5 a day. It’s compulsory on Italian slopes for anyone under 18, so factor it in from the start.

Where to rent skis in Abetone

Rental shops cluster at the foot of the lifts and along the village’s main street. Ask if they offer ski storage: leaving your boots and gear up at altitude saves you loading the car every morning, and it usually costs a few euros a day.

Daily or seasonal rental for kids

If your child skis more than two weeks a season, seasonal rental works out cheaper. It typically runs €150–300 for an adult and less for kids, with size swaps included through the winter. For a foot that grows two sizes between December and March, it’s the only option that makes sense: buy skis for an eight-year-old and you’ll be buying them again at nine.

Skis sitting idle eight months a year

If you own a decent set, it sits in the cellar all summer. Rented out, it earns €250–600 a season, with verified ID and insurance included on every rental.
